Paul was a fantastic host. Every recommendation was spot-on, he won't lead you astray. Great knowledge of the area. He also cooked one of the best blueberry pancakes I've had in my life!

Sitting at brunch with my husband right now, talking about the best breakfasts we've ever had, and even though it's a bed and breakfast and not a restaurant, the french toast as part of the bountiful breakfasts we've had at train inn still tops our list. We've stayed with Paul and Teresa four times and the closest we've ever lived is a four hour drive. That's how great our experiences have been. The inn is walkable from the Amtrak station as well as downtown bars and restaurants. Its in a historic home but with tasteful updates and features (we've stayed in "historic" bnbs before that look great online but are really just look and feel like grandmas house but this place is great in person). Paul definitely has a designers eye. Carbondale also is a little gem with surprisingly good entertainment options. There is hiking and a wine trail half an hour south which we've done in late summer, and within walking distance from the train inn are a handful of really great dive bars, a nice cocktail bar, a vegetarian cafe, every ethnic food restaurant you can imagine, an adorable bakery, an excellent liquor store, tons of live music for all tastes. Highly recommend a weekend date in Carbondale, especially if you're coming from Chicago or Fort Campbell!

What an amazing experience! Paul is an amazing host. The room was comfy but the breakfast was amazing. Fresh squash from the garden with butter and nuts, scrambled eggs and bacon. Yum!!! I definitely recommend staying here while in Carbondale.

The Train Inn, Inc. is absolutely the best B&B I've ever stayed at. The house is beautiful and full of charm. The food is outstanding! I would describe my breakfast experience with one word - royal. The best thing about The Train Inn, however, are it's hosts. Paul and Teresa are fabulous hosts; they are kind and generous, and make you feel nothing more than welcome and comfortable. As I sat and talked with them I felt as if I were chatting with old friends. This B&B deserves all the patronage it can get. If you are passing through Carbondale, you MUST stay at The Train Inn, Inc. You won't regret it!!!

I was fortunately enough to stay at the Train Inn from the 29th-31st of July and it was one of the best B & B experiences I've ever had!!! The Train Inn's location is perfect for those who are looking to have easy access to campus or to re-live campus life (like in my case) if only for a weekend. I went down for a friend's wedding and had such a nice stay with Paul and Teresa. Both were very warm, friendly and accommodating. Paul is an AMAZING cook and both served me a delicious gourmet breakfast/brunch each morning. The house is beautiful and quite a treasure and they even had a hot tub I could use!! Thank you so much Paul and Teresa, you gave me a weekend of nostalgia I will never forget!!

Extremely friendly host (with top tier restaurant recommendations). The room (and the house as a whole) is amazing. This is perhaps the first and only time that I have been awed by how beautiful a stay is (comfort is way out of the question). I would shill the living daylight out of everything about this place. Paul is a nice guy

My husband and were traveling for a somewhat distressing purpose and the Train Inn gave us the recharge that was needed to take on the day. It was the perfect alternative to a generic hotel, at a better rate! The space is very warm, inviting and very comfortable. It is also filled with history. The guest host Marion was magnificent! She was friendly and a joy to talk to. The breakfast was fantastic! Best lodging breakfast I’ve ever had. The blueberry pancakes were seriously the best I’ve ever had. She even made me German style soft boiled eggs, which were wonderful! Marion was not only a pleasure to talk to, but she gave us lots of privacy as well. Highly recommend the Train Inn for any type of travel.

My experience at the Train Inn was absolutely excellent. The owners are extremely nice and friendly. Rooms are clean and well kept. Breakfast was phenomenal! Couldn’t have asked for a better stay!

From the moment we arrived at The Train Inn, we knew we had found something special. Nestled in a charming setting, this bed & breakfast exceeded every expectation. Our hosts, Paul and Marion were incredibly welcoming, sweet, and thoughtful—offering helpful local tips, genuine conversation, and were very respectful of our privacy. Our room was beautifully decorated, spotless, and cozy, with little touches that made it feel like home. The bed was ultra-comfortable, and we slept better than we have in weeks. Breakfast was freshly prepared, deliciously plated, and served with care. Every dish was a treat! We left feeling relaxed, well-fed, and already planning our next visit. If you’re looking for a retreat with charm, comfort, and warm hospitality, look no further than The Train Inn. A true 5-star experience all around.

We had an amazing stay at this place. The owner actually lives there, which made all the difference - he checked in on us regularly, made sure we were eating well, and shared the most fantastic stories that kept us entertained. The house is beautiful and well-maintained, and there are tons of great restaurants within walking distance. But honestly, it was the owner's kindness and genuine care that made this experience special. Highly recommend if you want to stay somewhere that feels more like visiting a friend than just booking a room.
